Firefox does not work. Why does Mazil slow down? What to do if Mazil slows down? Updating the browser and OS

The program is easy. When UltraIso starts, a window appears, at the very top of which is located the "Main menu of the program", under it is the "Quick Launch Panel". The workspace is divided into four parts. In the upper left corner shows information about the disc open in the program. It is presented as a tree-like list of folders. And at the top right you can see the list of files located in the selected folder. Detailed information about them is displayed in the lower right section. At the bottom left is a list of available drives.

Ultraiso has its own format. It is called ISO Zipped - ISZ. Although this format can only be read using the utility itself, it has become very popular due to its excellent data compression.

How to create a CD / DVD image

Insert your disk into the optical drive, then launch the UltraISO application and click on the “Tools” button. From the drop-down list, select "Create CD Image". The application will open a new dialog box in which you will need to specify the drive with the prepared disk and assign a folder path to save the image. In addition, at this stage, you can select the desired format - iso or, for example, alcohol. Confirm your selection by clicking on the “Make” button.

How to burn a CD / DVD image

To create a disk image, you must click on the "Tools" button and select the menu item "Burn CD image". In this case, it is necessary to indicate to the program where the folder with the files is located. And also to choose additional parameters: recording method (TAO - Track At Once or DAO - Disk At Оnce) and speed. If the TAO method is installed, then only one track will be recorded at one time. If you want to burn the entire disc, you must use the DAO method.
If Nero Burning Rom is installed on your computer, UltraISO can use the engine of this application to burn discs.

How to burn a disc

First of all, you need to create a disk image. To do this, just select the files intended for recording and place them in the upper right window of the program. At the same time, the volume of the selected files will be shown in the upper part of the window. This makes it possible to ensure that the volume of files intended for recording does not exceed the size of the disk.

Then you need to click on the “File” button and select the “Save As” command from the drop-down list, indicating the location to save, image name and extension (iso). After the image has been created, click on the “Tools” button and use the menu item “Burn CD image”. In this case, specify the recording speed and other necessary parameters.

How to open a disk image using UltraISO

Click on the "Tools" button and select the "Mount to Virtual Drive" menu item. A window will open in which you need to select the desired disk image in the "Image file" line. Then click the “Mount” button located below. In addition, the application can use drives mounted in the Alcohol 120 and Daemon-Tools programs. The “Unmount” button is designed to remove a disk from a virtual drive. To open the mounted image, you need to go to the “Computer” folder and double-click the virtual drive displayed there.
UltraIso allows you to mount eight virtual drives. To change their number, click "Options" - "Settings" - "Virtual Drive". In the line “Number of devices” indicate how many drives you want to receive.

Creating a bootable flash drive

To create a bootable USB flash drive, you must have a prepared flash drive formatted in NTFS and a pre-recorded boot disk image in iso format. Insert the drive into a free usb port and launch UltraISO. Open the prepared image. To do this, by clicking on the "File" button, select "Open" from the drop-down list. Now you need to go to the "Boot" menu and select the option "Burn hard disk image". Here you need to find the letter corresponding to the flash drive, and press the "Write" key. The recording method is best left as default - USB-HDD +.

Many users are familiar with the browser as one of the oldest, safest and most popular navigators on the world wide web. The basic functionality of Mazil is not cluttered with anything superfluous, it includes only the most necessary and basic (compilation of lists, data synchronization, creation of folders, breakdown by tags, search settings, etc.). Installing additional extensions makes it possible to customize the browser based on your own preferences.

In the process of using the browser, many have questions about why Mazil slows down, what to do in this case. There are several ways to speed up his work.

Disabling unused plugins

Viewing various kinds of content right in the browser window is possible using plugins. Many of them are rarely used. Disabling them will significantly increase the speed of the browser and solve the problem of why Mazil slows down. To do this, you need:

  • In the top menu, select the "Tools" section.
  • Open the "Add-ons" manager.
  • In the explorer located on the side, switch to the "Plugins" tab.
  • View a list of all installed plugins.
  • Opposite the plugin to be disabled, in the pop-up menu select the option “Never enable” (it will change the status to “Disabled”).

If desired, any plug-in can be reactivated. To do this, just change the option “Never turn it on” to “Always turn on” or “Turn on by request” in the pop-up menu.

Removing custom plugins

The browser has no built-in tools to get rid of unnecessary plugins. However, this can be done through the control panel of the Windows operating system.

This will require:

  • Via the Start button, open the main menu of the computer.
  • Go to the "Control Panel" section.
  • Find the subsection "Programs".
  • Click on the “Uninstall a program” link.
  • Find the required plugin in the list and select it with the mouse.
  • In the upper menu, actions that can be performed with the program will become available.
  • Select "Delete".
  • The utility and all its components will be erased from the computer and, accordingly, from the browser.

Some plugins have their own software that allows them to be removed if they are the reason that Mozilla is terribly slow.

Disabling installed extensions

There are many different extensions for Mozilla Firefox, the installation of which can significantly increase the functionality of the browser, downloading video and music, access services to social networks, etc.). But do not forget that the increase in functionality due to installed extensions leads to the fact that Mazil slows down. What to do in this case? You must disable them. To do this, you need:

  • In the "Add-ons" manager of the "Tools" section, open the "Extensions" tab.
  • Select in turn all the elements that should be disabled.
  • Opposite each extension, click on the “Disable” button.
  • To complete the changes, you will need to restart the browser.

Mozilla Speeds up browser performance by clearing the cache

Sometimes, to increase the operating parameters of the browser, it is enough to clear the cache memory.

The following actions will be required:

  • In the "Tools" section, go to the "Settings" subsection.
  • Click on the “Privacy” tab.
  • Click on the link “Delete your recent history”.
  • In the window that opens, check the box next to "Cache".
  • Click on the “Delete Now” button.

Clear all browser history

Users often have a question about why the Mazila browser slows down. You can improve the performance of the navigator as follows: by deleting the entire browser history. To do this, perform a series of actions:

  • In the panel located at the top of the browser window, go to the "History" section.
  • Mark the item “Delete recent history” (a new window will open).
  • In the pop-up menu of the “Delete” line, select the “All” item.
  • Click on the “Delete Now” button.

Change startup settings by creating a Prefetch folder

Changing the appropriate launch settings will significantly increase the speed of Mozilla Firefox, and the question of why the browser slows down will disappear by itself. To do this, follow these steps:

The next time you launch the browser, all information about this will be automatically sent by the system to the Prefetch folder. "Mazil" slows down? What to do, we reviewed above.

Faster browser minimization and opening options

If the previous options did not help, and Mazil still works slowly, you can try the following method:

  • Launch a browser.
  • Enter the following query in the address bar: about: config. Press the Enter key.
  • A warning window will appear in which you should click on the button "I promise that I will be careful."
  • A list of all browser settings opens.
  • Right-click on an empty spot.
  • In the context menu that appears, select the "Create" item, the sub-item "Logical".
  • In the new window, in the "Enter the name of the settings" line, specify the following parameter: config.trim_on_minimize.
  • Confirm your actions by clicking the "OK" button.
  • In the next window, select the value “false” and click on “OK”.
  • Close the browser and confirm the changes by rebooting the computer.

After performing these simple steps, the question of why the Mozilla Firefox browser slows down will no longer bother.

Create a new profile

In the case of a long loading of Mazil, it will help to accelerate it by creating a new profile with the -p switch. This will require:

  • Right-click on the browser shortcut on the desktop.
  • In the pop-up function menu, go to the "Properties" section.
  • In the “Shortcut” tab, find the line “Object”.
  • Change the address in it, appending the value “-p” at the end (without quotes).
  • As a result of the change, the line will take the following form: C: \\ Program Files \\ Mozilla Firefox.exe -p
  • Click the OK button.

Now you can start creating a new profile:

  • Launch the browser by clicking on the corresponding shortcut.
  • The "Select User Profile" window opens.
  • Click on the “Create” button.
  • Follow the prompts of the Create Profile Wizard.

After the process is completed, the old profile can be erased, as can the “-p” key in the settings.

Change Windows registry settings

In search of an answer to the question of why Yandex slows down in Mazil and not only, one can come across such a method as changing registry settings, namely deleting one of its branches. To do this, you must:

  • In the Run dialog box, specify the regedit command to start the registry.
  • Using Explorer, find the MozillaPlugins branch along this path: [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \\ SOFTWARE].
  • Clear the registry key using the “Delete” functions in the context menu.

After that, you will need to perform the following steps:

Why is Mazil slowed down? How to speed it up using third-party utilities?

To speed up the launch of the browser and optimize its memory, SpeedyFox and Firetune are enough. Here is what you need:

  • Download utilities and install them on your computer.
  • Close the Mazilu.
  • Run the program SpeedyFox.
  • Click on the “Speed \u200b\u200bUp My Firefox” button.
  • The utility will make changes to
  • After the process is complete, open the Firetune program.
  • Select “Quick Computer / Quick Connection”.
  • Click on the “Configure” button.
  • After completing the settings, restart the computer.

The question of why Mazil slows down is no longer relevant.

A few more options

Changing some parameters on the browser configuration page will help speed up its work. This will require:

The Mozilla Firefox browser, as a sufficiently functional navigator, is easy to manage and easy to use, which many have liked. Often with prolonged use, the Mazila launch speed can slow down dramatically. In this case, each user wants to know why the browser slows down, and what to do to make it work faster.

There are a lot of ways to optimize the work of Firefox (disabling, removing plugins and extensions, changing the settings of the configuration page, using software, making changes to the registry of the operating system, etc.). Choosing the right option depends on the user's skill level, installed add-ons, plug-ins and browser settings.

Hello! Why does it not start? Because of my profession, I often hear this question regarding different browsers. In fact, the reason may lie directly in their functioning or operating system.

Today we consider why Mazil does not start and what can be done about it. I will share some experience, which in many cases allows me to find and correct the situation for the better.

It turned out a decent amount of material. Therefore, for your convenience, I have prepared a summary.

Sometimes the browser starts to work slowly or does not load at all for quite understandable reasons - it happens not only in it, but also in the installed operating system (OS). Let's see what can be done.

Checking browser and OS compatibility

The latest version of the Internet browser does not work on all versions of the Windows operating system. In particular, I came across the information that the software product is not supported in XP with the service pack below SP2.

But in Windows 7 with the latest updates and XP SP3 Firefox is working fine. Recently I checked it myself.

What should be done in this case? It's simple - check browser and OS compatibility. I don’t cite the minimum system requirements, as the situation may change by the time of reading this material. It is advisable to clarify relevant information on official resources.

Checking your computer for viruses

A common case - a virus damages or modifies files. At the same time, as the likely consequences - the browser and all other components of the system load slowly.

To exclude or confirm this assumption, you need to do a full scan of the computer. When a virus is detected, it is not enough just to remove it; the consequences of its activity must also be corrected. To conduct major computer checks for infection, I like to use Kaspersky antivirus. Naturally, the choice of antivirus software is the decision of each user.

Search and fix errors in the OS

There are thousands of options. Nevertheless, I will show one general check and correction of some errors in automatic mode. It helps in some cases when problems are related to system processes on the hard drive. It helps me quite often, but I repeat - there are different cases.

Attention to the screenshot below. An example is made in XP, but it works in the seven.

The command shown in the screenshot must be entered on the command line - a program that is standard for Windows. It will search for bad sectors, as well as restore their contents for the specified drive. It is advisable to check all drives.

Updating the browser and OS

Updates are released for a reason. They may contain modified or augmented functionality and important corrections. It is logical that they need to be installed in a timely manner.

This should be done at least for security purposes, if the modified functionality is of little interest. In addition, some updates can directly affect the stability of the system.

Troubleshoot browser files

General recommendations were considered. Suppose the system is in order, but Mazila Firefox does not want to start normally. Why is this happening? Now I will show 3 more different approaches, how to fix the situation.

We work with the task manager if a single run was observed

It happens that after loading the computer the browser can be opened once. If it is completely closed, then the second time it will not start. The reasons for this may be different.

In some cases, the process simply does not end, although the browser is no longer visually visible. The way out is simple. Open the task manager using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl, Alt, Del.

If you see processes with a demonstrated name, they need to be completed. Their presence means that the browser is not completely closed.

After performing these steps, it is likely to open normally. If a similar situation repeats, then it is worth considering other ways to solve the problem.

We clean the browser cache if it starts and does not work well

A cache is a collection of data that is stored while browsing the Internet. These include, for example, your browsing history. If during Firefox failures occur, for a long time everything will load and in some other cases it will be wise to clear the cache. Complete cleaning can be done in a couple of steps:

  1. Removing web content and user data;
  2. Log cleaning.

As part of the first stage, go to the “settings”, select the “advanced” section and click on the appropriate buttons.

It happens that the above options do not help. We look what else can be done.

Reinstall your Internet browser and clean your profile

Completely remove the current browser through the system tools in the "Add or Remove Programs." Reboot the computer.

We open any folder and enter special words in the address bar and press "enter".

I don’t remember how in other OSs, but in XP and 7 this approach works. So, after performing the above steps, a list of folders will open. Among them, we are looking for the name "Mozilla". The folder can be deleted.

Why is Mazil slowly loading and how to speed it up?

I talk about this last, so the reasons may lie in incorrect operation:

  • programs that affect the functioning of the browser;
  • the browser itself.

Some methods for solving the problem cited above. If the point is not in these two points, then what else and what, then what to do? In this case, the browser loads for a long time and slowly opens the page for a logical reason - lack of hardware power. Simply put, this is observed when the computer is weak.

Additional Information

The article turned out to be quite voluminous. I tried to recall the maximum situations from my experience and observations. I draw your attention to the fact that the problems can be of a different nature and require individual approaches, which may go beyond the scope of the options considered.

All kinds of programs and their interaction - all this forms a fairly complex system. The causes of malfunctions and their solutions are many.

I complete the article. I hope she was helpful. Waiting for your comments.

Firefox hangs after using it for a long time

Update firefox

The latest Firefox versions includes improvements in memory usage, especially during long sessions. Update Firefox to the latest version.

Restart Firefox

Firefox may hang if left open for long periods of time. To fix the issue, restart Firefox.

If you regularly leave Firefox open so that you return to where you left off, you may want to use Firefox "s Session Restore feature. For more information, see Configuring session restore.

Firefox hangs when downloading files or saving images

If Firefox hangs when you attempt to download a file or save an image, try these solutions:

Clear download history

Firefox may hang when downloading files if your download history has grown too large. To clear the download history:

Choose a different download folder

Firefox may hang if the last download folder location (e.g. a shared volume or USB drive) is no longer available. To fix this:

See if you are now able to download files or save images. If this works, you can go back to your Firefox settings, if you wish, and select Always ask me where to save my files.

Firefox hangs when you quit it

Sometimes when you close Firefox, it may stop responding and remain in memory, even though no Firefox windows are open. This can prevent Firefox from working properly the next time you open it or you may see a "Close Firefox" dialog box with an error message, Firefox is already running, but is not responding. A copy of Firefox is already open.   You must then end all Firefox processes or restart the computer before you can reopen Firefox (see "Firefox is already running but is not responding" error message - How to fix it for other causes and solutions).

Close Firefox completely

If Firefox processes that remain in memory at exit are a recurring problem, try the following solutions.

Troubleshoot your extensions

A problematic extension can cause the problem, which can be resolved by disabling or uninstalling the extension. For information on diagnosing and fixing problems caused by faulty extensions, see the

Quite a common situation: you double-clicked the Mozilla Firefox shortcut on the desktop or opened this application from the taskbar, but faced with the fact that the browser refuses to start.

Unfortunately, the problem when the Mozilla Firefox browser refuses to start is quite common, and various reasons can affect its appearance. Today we will look at the main reasons, as well as ways to troubleshoot problems launching Mozilla Firefox.

Option 1: “Firefox is running and not responding”

One of the most common Firefox inoperability situations is when you try to launch the browser, but instead get a message “Firefox is running and not responding” .

As a rule, a similar problem appears after a previous incorrect closing of the browser, when it continues to execute its processes, thus preventing a new session from starting.

First of all, we need to complete all Firefox processes. To do this, press the key combination Ctrl + Shift + Esc , to open "Task Manager" .

In the window that opens, you will need to go to the tab "Processes" . Find the “Firefox” process (“firefox.exe”), right-click on it and select the item in the context menu that appears “Take off the task” .

If you find other Firefox related processes, they will also need to be completed.

After completing these steps, try starting the browser.

If Mozilla Firefox still does not start, still giving the error “Firefox is running and not responding,” then in some cases this may indicate that you do not have the necessary access rights.

To verify this, you will need to go to the profile folder. To do this, of course, is easier using Firefox itself, but given that the browser does not start, we will use a different method.

Press a keyboard shortcut simultaneously Win + r. The Run window will appear on the screen, in which you will need to enter the command below and press the Enter key:

% APPDATA% \\ Mozilla \\ Firefox \\ Profiles \\

A folder with profiles will be displayed on the screen. As a rule, if you did not create additional profiles, you will see only one folder in the window. If you use several profiles, then for each profile you will need to perform further actions individually.

Right-click on the Firefox profile and in the context menu that appears, go to "Properties" .

A window will appear on the screen in which you need to go to the tab "Are common" . In the bottom area of \u200b\u200bthe window, make sure that you have checked "Only for reading" . If there is no checkmark (dot) near this item, you must set it yourself, and then save the settings.

Option 2: “Error reading the configuration file”

If a message appears on the screen after trying to start Firefox "Error reading configuration file" , this means that there are problems with Firefox files, and the easiest way to solve the problem is to reinstall Mozilla Firefox.

First of all, you will need to completely remove Firefox from your computer. We have already talked about how this task can be accomplished in one of our articles.

Open Windows Explorer and delete the following folders:

  C: \\ Program Files \\ Mozilla Firefox

C: \\ Program Files (x86) \\ Mozilla Firefox

And only after you complete the removal of Firefox, you can start downloading the new version from the official website of the developer.

Option 3: “Error opening file for writing”

Such a plan error is displayed, as a rule, in those cases when you use an account on the computer without administrator rights.

Accordingly, in order to solve the problem, you need administrator rights, but this can be done specifically for the application being launched.

Just click on the Firefox shortcut on the desktop with the right mouse button and in the context menu that appears, click on the item "Run as administrator" .

A window will appear on the screen in which you will need to select an account that has administrator rights, and then enter a password from it.

Option 4: “Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be damaged or inaccessible. ”

A similar error clearly hints to us that there are problems with the profile, for example, it is not available or is completely absent on the computer.

Typically, a similar problem occurs if you renamed, moved, or deleted a folder with a Firefox profile altogether.

Based on this, you have several ways to solve the problem:

1.   Move the profile to the previous place if you previously moved it;

2.   If you renamed a profile, then it must be given the previous name;

3.   If you cannot use the first two methods, then you will need to create a new profile. Keep in mind that creating a new profile will give you clean Firefox.

In order to start creating a new profile, open the "Run" window with a shortcut Win + r . In this window you will need to run the following command:

firefox.exe -P

The Firefox Profile Management window appears. We need to resort to creating a new profile, so click on the button Create .

Enter a name for the profile, and, if necessary, in the same window specify the location on the computer where the folder with the profile will be stored. Complete your profile.

The Firefox Profile Management window appears again on the screen, in which you need to select the new profile and then click on the button “Running Firefox” .

Option 5: Firefox crash reporting error

A similar problem occurs when you launch the browser. You may even see its window, but the application closes abruptly and a message about Firefox crashes is displayed on the screen.

In this case, various factors can cause Firefox to crash: viruses, installed add-ons, themes, etc.

First of all, in this case, you will need to scan using your antivirus or a special healing utility, for example, Dr.Web CureIt.

After scanning, be sure to restart the computer, and then check the browser is working.

If the problem persists, then you should try to completely reinstall the browser, having previously completely removed the web browser from the computer.

After the removal is complete, you can proceed to install the latest version of the browser from the official website of the developer.

Option 6: “XULRunner Error”

If the error "XULRunner Error" is displayed on your screen when you try to start Firefox, then this may indicate that an irrelevant version of Firefox is installed on your computer.

You will need to completely remove Firefox from the computer, which we have previously talked about on our site.

After completing the complete removal of the browser from the computer, download the new version of the web browser from the official website of the developer.

Option 7: Mozilla does not open, but does not give an error

1)   If before the browser worked fine, but at some point it stopped starting, the most effective way to fix the problem is to perform a system restore.

This procedure will allow you to restore the system to the moment when the browser was working correctly. The only thing that this procedure leaves is user files (documents, music, photos and videos).

To start the system rollback process, open the menu "Control Panel" , set the view mode in the upper right corner "Small signs" and then open the section "Recovery" .

In the window that opens, select "Starting System Restore"   and wait a few moments.

Choose the appropriate rollback point when Firefox worked fine. Please note that depending on the changes made since then, system recovery may take several minutes or several hours.

2)   Firefox may be affected by some antivirus products. Try pausing their work and checking the functionality of Firefox.

If, according to the results of the scan, the cause was precisely an antivirus or other protection program, it will require disabling the network scanning function or another function related to the browser or accessing the network.

3)   Try starting Firefox in safe mode. To do this, hold down the Shift key and click on the browser shortcut.

If the browser started normally, then this indicates a conflict between the browser and installed extensions, themes, etc.

To get started, turn off the work of all browser add-ons. To do this, click on the menu button in the upper right corner, and then in the window that appears, go to the section "Additions" .

In the left pane, go to the tab "Extensions" , and then disable all extensions. It will be useful if you completely delete them from the browser.

If you have third-party themes installed for Firefox, try reverting to the standard theme. To do this, go to the tab "Appearance"   and make a theme "Standard"   default theme.

Finally, try disabling hardware acceleration. To do this, open the browser menu and go to the section "Settings" .

In the left pane of the window, go to the tab "Additional" and then open the tab "Are common" . Here you will need to uncheck the item “Use hardware acceleration whenever possible” .

After completing all the steps, open the browser menu and in the lower area of \u200b\u200bthe window click on the icon "Exit" . Try launching the browser normally.

4)   Reinstall the browser and create a new profile. How to implement this task has already been described above.

And a little conclusion. Today we looked at the main ways to troubleshoot problems launching the Mozilla Firefox browser. If you have your own method for fixing the problem, share it in the comments.
