To start the firmware, press the "choose" button next to the Scatter-loading File line. In the window that appears, go to the folder with the firmware, and select the file that is highlighted in the screenshot below:

The firmware files will appear in the flasher. Then click the Download button.

Now turn off the phone and connect it to the computer. The drivers should be installed and the firmware process should begin. If this does not happen, and the phone shows a charging indicator, do the following:

  • Disconnect the phone from the computer;
  • Press the Stop button in the Flash Tool;
  • Now press the Download button again;
  • We connect the phone to the computer via USB cable.

If the problem persists, download drivers for your device and for your operating system on your computer and install them.

Firmware through recovery

The firmware that is installed through the recovery looks a little different.

Only for such firmwares, you need to carefully read the description. The fact is that the firmware looks almost the same, but you won't be able to determine what type of recovery they are for.

A few words about the types of recovery. Recovery can be stock and custom. Stock is a recovery released by the manufacturer, so to speak, official, and is intended only for installing official firmware. are suitable only for custom firmwares, but they, in turn, are also divided into two types: CWM and TWRP.

Now let's move on to the firmware process. First, download the firmware to your phone and save it to the root of the SD card. Next, turn off the phone, then take out the battery and insert it back. We simultaneously hold down the power button and the volume + button. You will find yourself in recovery. It looks something like this:

The ROM Manager and GooManager related methods are the easiest to install ClockworkMod or TWRP. However, these methods require Root access. If you need to install any custom Recovery using command linethen the Fastboot method will do. The main advantage of this method is the fact that it does not even require rooting. It should be borne in mind that the bootloader must be unlocked for this method.

The Flash Image method also allows you to replace the stock Recovery and set any custom recovery mode. This requires Root privileges, a command line emulation application, and the flash_image binary. This saves the hassle of using a computer to manual installation Recover with Fastboot.

The Fastboot and Flash Image methods require special image recovery. The latest version of ClockworkMod and TWRP for a specific gadget can be downloaded from the developers' web pages of these applications.

In some cases, you may need alternative installation methods, for example, if your smartphone does not have a separate partition for recovery mode, since it is built into the kernel boot partition. There is no one-size-fits-all guide that covers all methods of setting Recovery Mode, but the standard methods in this guide should work for most smartphones. Installing CWM Recovery

Now you can go directly to standard methods setting a custom recovery mode. Such operations should be performed with caution. If during the installation process the device is damaged or completely breaks down, then its owner may be denied warranty repair or replacement, since users are not allowed to engage in such manipulations.

Those who are interested in how to install ClockworkMod Recovery should take into account that this is the easiest and most affordable method, which allows you to start the installation from the graphical interface during device boot. In this case, you do not need to download the recovery image and enter any commands. This is the most convenient method for most users. You can try other methods only if CWM did not work. For installation CWM Recovery you need to do the following:

  1. Install ROM Manager on your smartphone. This is an application that allows you to schedule recovery operations during Android boot and has the option to install the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery.
  2. Launch the newly installed ROM Manager. The first option that the program will offer should be called Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. You must click on it and follow the instructions.
  3. You have to wait until the system reboots and the latest version of the program is installed. Do not restart manually.
  4. After rebooting the system and starting the operating system, you need to make sure using the ROM Manager that the latest version of CWM Recovery is installed. All available updates must be installed. In case of occurrence new version you must install it following the instructions.

To install any custom recovery mode using fast bootloader, the computer must have ADB and Fastboot. After the installation is complete, you will need to do the following:

  1. Copy the recovery image to any convenient location on your computer (it is desirable that the path to the file is not too long). You can put it in the root directory of the C drive and not create a special folder. The recovery image must have an IMG extension. If it is inside a ZIP archive, you should unpack it.
  2. Connect your Android device to personal computer via USB.
  3. Wait until Fastboot USB appears on the screen.

How to install recovery on Android

CWM Recovery Android - Custom Recovery Installation

Since the topic android firmware devices is very relevant, I decided to write about installing CWM Recovery on an Android smartphone or tablet. There are several ways to do this at once: for some, all actions are performed on the device itself, but this requires root rights, while for others, a computer is used when installing custom recovery. Use whatever you find easier or more convenient.

Method 1. Installing CWM Recovery via ROM Manager

The first way to flash Recovery is to use the ROM Manager program, which we already talked about in the article: how to flash Android. This application has a separate item that allows you to install ClockWorkMod Recovery in a couple of minutes.

I want to note right away that ROM Manager requires root rights... You can read how to get them here and here.

After that go to official page https://clockworkmod.com/rommanager and see if your device is on the list of supported.

1. Now open ROM Manager and select the first item "Recovery Setup".

2. In the next window in the "Install or update Recovery" section select "ClockworkMod Recovery".

4. At the bottom, click on "Install ClockworkMod".

5. The download process will begin. When good internet connection, it lasts a couple of seconds.

6. At the end of the download, you will be asked to grant root access to the application. Select "Provide".

Method 2. Install custom Recovery on Android using the FastBoot utility

All the steps described below are similar to installing TWRP Recovery: go to the article.

It is included in the Android SDK, the archive of which must be downloaded from the official site http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html (go to the bottom of the page and download "tools_version-windows.zip"). UPD: The "platform-tools" folder on my computer is located in a different directory than yours. The fact is that this article was written even when the installer existed for the Android SDK. Starting from the 25th version, the installation is carried out only from a ZIP archive: because of this, part of the instructions had to be edited. Therefore, the path to ADB and Fastboot is different from mine, everything else remains unchanged.

Let's start the Recovery firmware:

1. First of all, go to this page and download the version of the file "recovery-clockwork.img" for your device. Note that there are both touch and classic versions for most devices. Download the one you like best.

2. Now place the CWM recovery file in the "platform-tools" folder. I also renamed it to "recovery.img" (you will see why later). I recommend that you do the same.

3. Connect your tablet or smartphone to your computer using USB.

In this case, the device must be booted into fastboot mode. Usually, to do this, on the turned off device, you need to hold down the key combination: Power on + Volume down. But this combination may differ depending on the device manufacturer.

UPD: it is much easier to switch to fastboot mode as follows: turn on USB debugging on the device, go to the command line (in point 4 just below it is described how to get into it) and enter the commands in sequence, while after each press "Enter".

4. Now open the command line (or skip this item and continue working with it, if you just transferred Android to fastboot mode through it). The easiest way to get there: press the key combination "Win" + "R" and enter:

6. Now you need to specify the path to the folder with the firmware. Enter the following command to navigate back to the folder.

7. My path to the recovery folder is "C: \\ Program Files (x86) \\ Android \\ android-sdk \\ platform-tools". So I enter (you write yours):

Method 3. Flash Recovery through the Rashr application

This method is also incredibly simple and convenient, but requires root rights. Their receipt is written at the beginning of the article in "Method 1".

1. Install Rashr - Flash Tool application with Google play, open it and grant Root rights.

2. Select "CWM Recovery" from the list of options.

1. First of all, go to this page and download the version of the file "recovery-clockwork.img" for your device. Note that there are both touch and classic versions for most devices. Download the one you like best.

2. Now place the CWM recovery file in the "platform-tools" folder. I also renamed it to "recovery.img" (you will see why later). I recommend that you do the same.
