Since our company specializes in setting up network equipment, we often receive applications for the installation of inexpensive routers for home use, which have not been configured on their own by the clients themselves or by the masters they called before us.

The crux of the problem: D-link wi-fi router from the factory firmware 1.2.94, (hardware revision B5) were once set up by unknown masters who left passwords on a piece of paper that did not fit anywhere. ;) Therefore, after buying gadgets: a Samsung tablet and two Htc-1 smartphones, it was difficult to combine them into a wireless home network, to put it mildly. It was urgently necessary to connect the device to the Internet of "Smile" - a provider that uses authorization via the Pppoe protocol. A similar scheme of work is used by other providers, in particular, these are companies:

Since the password for entering the configuration menu of the router did not fit either;) the wizard had no choice but to reset the router to factory settings.
After that, according to our rules, the wizard should test the Internet speed, but the connection created on the vpn computer with Smile-Network did not work, allegedly because "the remote server did not respond." In fact, this is our brilliant di link cut"transit" / forwarding of the pppoe connection, and the master almost did not earn a heart attack, believing that the mistress's password from Smile Internet is also wrong ...;) The further course of the setup, to great joy, proved the groundlessness of such a guess.
... Without hesitation, the router master updated the "brains" of the router to the latest official version of the software ( F / W 1.4.9); no alternative OpenWrt needed to flash. After flashing Router Dir300 threw out a new trick, ceasing to issue private IP addresses to clients on the wireless interface, and specifically to the laptop from which setting was in progress, since the router is installed in the corridor of a two-story building, and pulling the cable is zapadlo. ;) "Trouble" was revealed by an incredibly long identification procedure (on Wi-Fi adapter Atheros 802.11G model AR9285) and the "issued" address from auto-range APIPA type 169.254.la.la. The reason for such an ugly behavior of the DLink product was the crookedly implemented router DIR-300 Server DHCP and the wizard had to tinker before he configured the mechanism for issuing private Ip addresses in D-Link to all wireless clients in the house that tried to connect to the router via Wi-Fi.

Our router tuner was far from the end of the "tormenting" process. When the wizard created a connection on the VPN router, Dlink went online, received an "IP address" from the provider, and the sites do not open :-P. It turns out the following picture: the router is authorized on the Internet, this is a fact, since in the status screen (on the main page of the settings menu) a green light with the dns and gateway addresses issued by SMILE is lit and successful PPPoE authorization is displayed in the logs of the d-link with further receipt of all necessary for working on the Internet "ipishnikov". By the way, informative logs are the strongest side of the Dir300Nru B5 model ... and the only one along the way.;)) Not a single site was opened due to a failure of the integrated domain name recognition service (also called DNS cache or DNS-Relay). Through absolutely shamanic actions, that is, operating with settings completely unrelated to the subject of the problem, like disabling IGMP, enabling / disabling RIP, Firewall on a WAN connection and enumerating the "MTU" value, as a result, it was possible to choose a "happy combination" of settings, in which the device worked satisfactorily ...
Having blotted out another half hour successfully solving both problems, including the problem with the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server, making sure that NruB5 finally logged in using the Pppoe protocol and successfully entered the Smile-Network, the wizard proceeded to set up WaiFay.

Wifi tuned in without difficulty

After the router was configured on Smiley, all the gadgets at home, including the notebook itself, plus two phones with HTC One Wi-Fi purchased on the occasion and a Galaxy Tab tablet from Samsung, quickly connected to the wireless network. There are only mere formalities left: check the stable operation of all devices connected to the smiley through the router, leave the customer a password (encryption key) for the wireless network created protected by WPA2 protocol and save the configuration just in case. Changing the password for the web interface

To improve the security of working on the Internet, we recommend changing the password for accessing the web interface of the router. For this:

For several months now I have been eating this cactus called "Smile" and for some reason I have no time for the promised smiles. I connected solely because there were not many other options. The Internet works disgustingly: there is no guarantee that the connection will not suddenly stop. Breaks often occur at the most crucial moment, at prime time. There can be several breaks per day, it can last 2 minutes and 15. Once there was no two days. They said that something was allegedly flooded there and that the manager in our house was to blame. According to the tariff, the speed is 70 megabits, but in reality there is barely up to 50, the maximum in torrents runs, the pings suck - 100-200 ms - everything lags in games. I have already made support requests on this issue several times. A couple of times their man came, changed the router, measured something lazily for the sake of appearance, said that he did not know what was the matter and left. At first they tried to hang noodles on me, that something was wrong with my computer, but I tried both from a laptop and from a computer and the result was the same. The support says that they supposedly need to change some equipment, wait for the network modernization, and they don't promise anything else. In general, as soon as the opportunity arises, I immediately leave them, I don’t need such a quality for nothing.

I connected a TV with them, in principle everything suits, the choice of channels is large, and the television itself does not fail. In which case, you can connect an additional package, I took an educational and children's.

Great provider!

On the whole, I like the Internet provider "Smile", since I have been using its services for almost a year now and there are no special complaints. Before that, there was another provider that didn’t work more often than it did. So when I changed it, I breathed a sigh of relief.

There were no problems with "Smile" from the very beginning. The guys work quickly. They connected me to the Internet on the day I applied. I left a request for connection in the morning, and by the evening it was connected to me. Immediately tested, and only after that signed a contract for the provision of services.

Convenient personal account on the provider's website, several ways to pay for the Internet, there are bonuses for activity or loyalty. You can also improve or downgrade your tariff plan in your personal account. Comfortable.

The Internet itself works stably. I have a tariff up to 100 Mbps. It is clear that 100 Mbps is extremely rare. Most often, late at night. Usually about 70 Mbps and that's enough for me.

The support is working fine. Not so long ago, the Internet did not work for a day, it turned out that there were problems with the cable. After the call, the technicians came and fixed everything. They did not take money for this, they say, repairs are included in the cost of the tariff. I was satisfied with this level of service.

Everything is not always stable

Already a few months ago I connected myself to the Internet from the Smile provider. It works, but there are also many disadvantages. The internet speed is not bad, but the connection is often interrupted, conversations with technical support may not lead to anything and you just have to wait. Fortunately, these problems are not critical for me, and I can spend some time without the Internet, but it's still unpleasant! I would not recommend this provider to my friends, but the company itself would like to work on stability and on the work of your technical support, yes, there are normal guys there, but there are also those who do not understand anything at all.

They do not provide quality services!

I have been using the services of an Internet provider not so long ago, but this company has already been able to recommend itself not from the very best side. Firstly, it is impossible to get through to technical support, you have to wait a long time for a specialist's answer. And if you still dial up, it turns out that they cannot or do not want to solve your problem. Internet quality is also poor. The declared speed simply does not match, which is why it is not comfortable to use the Internet from several devices. In general, I am thinking about changing the Internet provider, as I would like to take more care of the client.

Good internet

I chose this Internet provider for myself on the basis of numerous recommendations of acquaintances and friends. I am one hundred percent happy with the Internet. The quality of the Internet connection is good, does not freeze, fast connection. Normal, adequate price, pleases. If necessary, I call technical support, I will always help to solve any problem related to the Internet, polite and responsive! I'm happy.

A month ago, we connected ourselves to the Internet of this provider. I chose for a long time from all providers, but came to the conclusion that "Smile" suits me more in the price category.

There were no problems with the connection. I left a request on their website, on the same day they called me for confirmation, and two days later the masters arrived. It didn't take long to connect and test. The fact is that the Internet of this provider was already in my housing complex, and this simplified the connection. The craftsmen brought a contract for the provision of services. The first month for a new user is free of charge, so they didn't have to pay anything right away.

At my rate, I have Internet at a speed of 200 Mbps. Movies are downloaded in HD quality in about 3-5 minutes, that is, the speed is good. But this speed is not always the case. In the morning and in the afternoon only. In the evening, of course, the speed drops, since the influx of users is large, as far as I understand. At night, the speed is generally perfect.

For a month of use, the Internet has never lagged, so in terms of the quality of service, I have no complaints. Let's see what happens next, but I hope that there will be no problems. So far, I am happy with the choice in favor of this provider.

unprofessionalism

I use the Internet from the Smile company at least 1.5 years in Shchelkovo. I am very dissatisfied with the work of this operator. Firstly, my TV set-top box broke, or rather the remote control for it, the technical service department told me that they did not have TV set-top boxes yet, but as they will, then they will bring it. OK. I called after a certain interval, they answered me that you know, but they were dismantled. Or maybe it wasn't, gentlemen ?! They offered me to buy this stupid set-top box myself, but just pay for the setup. Second point. During my holidays, I often turn off the Internet so that I do not get AP. They did not have such a shutdown function. They advised me to turn off the router and write a letter. Where the text was compiled by them and upon arrival they will recalculate me. As a result, as it turned out, during my absence, the Internet was turned off for non-payment; when I called, it turned out that they would be able to recalculate, unless the services were provided through the fault of the company. Why deceive. The complete lack of professionalism of the company in my opinion.

Smile is not ADSL)))

I switched to Smile recently. Before that I used the services of an ADSL provider, where there was no such high speed. There were few TV channels, I wanted to expand the view. I connected a digital TV, now there are a lot of channels and TV does not disappear. My Wi-Fi router was on the list of those recommended by the company, so the installation was done for free. But even if I had to pay, I would not refuse such an offer. The TV works well, I did not notice any network failures either. There were no problems with interruptions, but I contacted those support several times. Resolved the issue over time.

I would say that this is just a great provider. I have been using the services of a smiley provider for several years. And I can say that they always strive to improve themselves in terms of quality and service. Their Internet is excellent and they keep their speed, one hundred megabits are constant and work smartly without any restrictions. The payment is also not high on a monthly basis, replenishment is possible without leaving home and in several ways, not only with a bank card but also with electronic wallets, which is convenient for me.
