The windows 10 lock screen is changing. Ways to lock. In the Local Group Policy Editor

The most fast way to call the Windows 10 lock screen is the Win + L key combination. If there is a password on the account, you will have to enter it to log in. In addition, the administrator sometimes forces his charges to press Ctrl + Alt + Del to enter. It is considered, in the latter case, that such a blocking is more reliable. Unfortunately, it is impossible to put a beautiful screen-saver for this time, if there is such a desire. More precisely, this is not available in the anniversary version 1607, and earlier it seemed that such an operation was feasible. Today users will see a regular black screen after pressing Win + L.

To be honest, such operations (access protection) are usually required in the workplace, where no one walks. Maybe throw something, then you will only marvel. Especially if the employer gets caught with a twist. A good admin doesn't even store user passwords. Because that alone would be a security breach. The lock screen now looks like a white or black canvas depending on which theme is selected. According to our observations, these changes were made by the anniversary version.

Exactly the same can be typed in the Run tool (Win + R).

Change the lock screen

Some sources indicate that the lock screen can be entered or removed through the registry or group policies. For the current version, disabling the lock screen in Windows 10 does not work. It is not clear what exactly the specified keys do. Try changing your input desktop background instead. For this:

Why is the clock on a black background?

Please note that the Android robot will not be shown on contrasting versions of the theme at all. Put the usual ones in this case! You will also see what we are promised to show beautiful photo against the background of the clock after pressing Win + L, but in reality - only a black screen. For many copies of the anniversary version.

However, there is some clarification. Let's do the following:

Third party software

There are many tweakers on the Internet to change the screensaver, but the authors have an innate distrust of third-party utilities since the days of XP, when each such experiment could be the last for the system. Just change the background through the Options and be content with what you have.

To turn off the lock screen, it is easier to delete the sleep options in the power settings, and the PC will never freeze. This was exactly what was needed by those who downloaded long files from Rapida at night. And any excess forced to do everything anew.

You may not have installed Windows 10 update yet Creators Update... Or maybe you have it, but you don't want to rely on Bluetooth and new function dynamic locking to lock your computer when you move away from it. Whatever the reason for manually locking your computer, you should know that you have four ways to lock your computer. Here they are.

1. Windows-L

Click on Windows key and the L key on your keyboard. This is a key combination for blocking.

2. Ctrl-Alt-Del.

Click on Ctrl-Alt-Del... In the menu that appears, click "Block". Boom, done.

3. Start button.

Click or click on the "Start" button in the lower left corner. Click on the user icon and then select "Block".

4. Automatic lock using a screen saver.

You can set your computer to lock automatically when the screen saver appears. Go to "Start> Settings>> Personalization> Lock screen> Screen saver settings (link below)" in the window that opens, check the "Start at login screen" box. You can also set the length of time your computer must wait before launching the screen saver.

Now when you exit the screensaver, you will need to enter your password to get back.

V Windows update 10 for Designers Microsoft has moved this splash screen setting from the Personalization panel, which can be accessed by right-clicking on the desktop.

The lock screen is one of the few visual components that Windows 10 inherited from the previous version of the system without undergoing major changes. As a purely cosmetic addition to the login screen, the lock screen does not carry much functionality, and therefore can be disabled without any consequences for Windows.

There are two ways to turn off the lock screen in Windows 10: by using the Local Group Policy Editor and by editing the registry. The second method is useful if the policy editor is not available in your version of the system.

Method one

Press Win + R and run the gpedit.msc command in the window that opens, and then in the left column of the editor window, sequentially expand the following items of the tree-like list of parameters:

Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Control Panel -> Personalization

Accordingly, in English version"Tens" it will look like this:

Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Control Panel -> Personalization

Now find the option "Do not display the lock screen" on the right side of the window and double-click on it. In the opened window for changing the parameters, switch the radio button from the "Not configured" position to the "Enabled" position and save the new settings.

It's all. You can check the result by pressing the combination Win + L.

Method two

Use the regedit command to open the registry editor and follow the chain:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Policies / Microsoft / Windows / Personalization

In the last subsection, you need to create a new 32-bit NoLockScreen DWORD parameter and set its value to 1. (If the Personalization subsection does not exist, create it manually).

The changes should take effect immediately, but it is quite possible that you still need to restart your computer.

Update from 08/03/2016

Next, in the trigger creation window, select "At logon" from the "Start task" menu, and at the same time make sure that the "Any user" and "Enabled" settings are active. Click OK. In the same way, create another trigger, only this time from the Start Task menu, select the On Unlocked workstation". After that, go to the "Actions" tab, click "New", in the field of the "Program or script" window that opens, enter reg.exe, and in the "Add arguments" field, enter the following command:

Disable the lock screen

Disabling the lock screen completely is not easy. There are 2 ways to do this.

First, let's take a look at how to disable the lock screen using the Group Policy Editor:

  1. Press the Win + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run window. Then enter the command gpedit.msc and click OK.

Enter the gpedit.msc command in the Run window

You can simply delete the application folder to make it stop working

Instead of deleting the application folder, you can simply change its name. This will allow you to get your lock screen back if you need it.

Customizing the lock screen: possible problems and solutions

Let's take a look at the problems you may have when customizing your lock screen:

Programs for customizing and changing the lock screen

There are several programs for customizing your lock screen. Usually they are used either to turn off the screen itself, or to adjust the background image. Let's highlight some of them:

  • Windows 10 Logon Background Changer is a program that allows you to change the background of your lock screen. It works without installation on a computer and is very easy to use (there is a version in Russian). It is enough to select a picture and the background image will be changed;

The lock screen of the latest revision of Windows additionally performs information function: It displays the time and date, important notifications, and even some system apps. After a user-specified period of inactivity, the computer is locked, after which you must enter a password to enter account... On an office computer or a PC where several people work, the function is very useful, but for a user who uses a laptop alone, this option is not needed.

Let's consider both cases: for the first, how to customize the lock screen in Windows 10 using its new features (displaying a notification, a slideshow as a background), and for the second, how to deactivate its appearance.

Replacing the background

Windows 10 developers have provided the ability to install background image to the lock screen. This is done as follows.

  • Open the Charms bar and go to "Options".

  • We select the item "Personalization" and go to the tab "Lock screen".

For reference: in Windows 10, you can not only select a background image, but also set the slideshow as its quality, just like on the desktop.

  • In the drop-down menu "Background" select "Photo" and click "Browse".

  • We set the path to bitmap in the standard file selection dialog and click "Select a picture".

After that, a small block preview of the current look of the lock screen will be displayed at the top of the window. The next time the computer is locked, you will see the selected picture as a background.

In order to set the sequence of pictures as the background of the lock screen, in the third step, select "Slideshow".

Click "Add folders" or "Images" to select a directory with graphic files or selection of pictures, respectively.

By going to the "Advanced Slide Show Options" you will be able to customize the frame display settings "for yourself".

Everything here is intuitively clear, therefore we will not dwell on the details.

Configuring Applications

Scrolling a little lower in the advanced slide display settings dialog, we will see the block responsible for adding applications, the status data of which will be displayed on the lock screen.

To do this, click on the icons with "plus signs" and select the block with programs.

Then click on the icon of the application itself.

The changes take effect the next time Windows 10 is locked.

Deactivating the blocking window

For the second case, when one person is working on a computer with Windows 10 or the lock screen is not needed, we will figure out how to disable it using both methods.

Method one

  • Launch the Group Policy Editor using search string or the command "gpedit.msc".

System commands are entered into a command interpreter launched by "Win + R" or a search string.

  • Go to the "Personalization" directory located along the path shown in the screenshot.

  • We find the parameter "Prohibit the display of the lock screen" and perform a double click on it.
  • In the left block of the window, move the trigger switch to the "On" position and click "OK".

After restarting Windows 10, the screen will turn off.

Method two

In the second method, you need to start the registry editor.

  • This is done by means of the "regedit" command entered in the "Run" window.

  • Go to the branch located at:
  • We call context menu free area of the right frame of the screen and choose to create a new 32-bit string key - DWORD.

  • We enter its name as "NoLockScreen", that is, the absence of a lock screen, select the hexadecimal number system and set a logical unit as the value of the forming parameter.

  • Restart Windows 10 to apply the changes.

Tweaker programs such as Winaero Tweaker or Ultimate Windows Tweaker allow you to perform all these actions, but why clog your computer with unnecessary software when everything is quickly and easily performed using the operating system.
