How to release the inner. "Phone memory is full" on Android: causes and solutions. Moving from Android using a computer

There are two symptoms when the internal memory on the phone is sorely lacking:

  1. Apps and Android slow down,
  2. The phone displays a message that you need to take action and free up the occupied space.

The internal memory of the phone has a fixed amount, and it (seemingly) cannot be increased. However, in the guide we will tell you how to clear the internal memory of the phone from unnecessary files and applications.

By increasing the free space in the Android memory, you will save time and stop noticing the brakes on your phone and tablet. The whole “cleaning” will take about 20 minutes.

Error: insufficient memory on mobile device

Usually, Android issues such a message if a process or application does not have enough free space in the internal memory of the phone.

Lack of memory can make itself felt by constant freezes. If this is imperceptible when buying a phone, then over time, after installing dozens of mobile applications and growing “garbage”, you begin to notice it.

The question involuntarily arises: do the characteristics of the phone “lie”? If not, then why does the same smartphone / tablet work stably for others?

Checking the amount of free memory on Android

When a notification about insufficient internal memory appears, the question arises: how much memory is available, how much of it is occupied?

You can check the free space through the settings of your mobile phone. To do this, go to Settings - Options - Memory (Settings - Device Maintenance - Storage - Storage settings - Device memory). We carefully study the data, paying attention to the following figures:

  • Total space - the amount of internal memory Android
  • System memory - the minimum amount of space reserved for system operation
  • Available space - how much space is left in the internal memory.

Accordingly, if the built-in memory is not enough, you need to increase the memory on the phone to the size of System memory so that the system does not give the corresponding error.

In the following chapters, I will tell you how to clean the internal memory on Android.

Clearing the phone's internal memory

You can remove excess through the built-in tools of the operating system and through third-party applications. They analyze the used space, help identify files that can be safely deleted.

Removing apps from Android system memory

Surely your phone has applications installed that hang dead weight and are not used for their intended purpose. Their size can reach hundreds of megabytes (including the cache).

You can remove useless programs through the standard Application Manager: Options - Settings - Application Manager (Settings - Apps).

In Android 8, it is convenient to use the free FIles Go utility to calculate unnecessary applications. For other OS versions, it is available for download via Google Play.

How to remove unnecessary applications in FIles Go:

  1. Go to the Unused apps section,
  2. Sort applications by modification date or size,
  3. To uninstall, mark unnecessary programs with checkmarks and click Uninstall.

Transferring files to a memory card

The internal memory of the phone, as already mentioned, has a fixed amount, so you need to constantly check whether there is enough free space for the applications and OS to work correctly.

In general, Android memory is divided into internal and external. It is easy to "upgrade" external memory, since sd-cards are inexpensive today (you can buy a 256 GB memory card for $25).

Actually, you can transfer files through any file manager - through a phone or PC.

Move unnecessary applications from internal to external memory card

Remove junk files with Piriform CCleaner

As an alternative to CCleaner, it's convenient to use the aforementioned Files Go app.

How to increase memory on Android manually

To manually clear the phone's memory, any file manager is suitable. We recommend ES Explorer or Total Commander.

Be careful and only delete unnecessary user files in Android internal memory that you created/copied yourself.

So, open the file manager, go to the root of the internal memory, start searching and deleting unnecessary things.

Which files it is desirable to delete (transfer to a memory card) in the first place:

  1. Photos, videos, voice recorder recordings and other documents stored not on sd, but in internal memory;
  2. Documents received by mail or through social networks (most often they are saved in the Download folder);
  3. E-books and other files saved by third-party applications to the device's memory;
  4. The contents of the folders DCIM, bluetooth, sounds.

We use Storage Analyzers (for clarity)

For clarity, we recommend using the Files Go application or any other storage analyzer for Android, which will show which files take up the most disk space and where they are located in the form of a diagram. Among these applications, we note:

Transferring photos and videos to Google Photos

It is photos and videos that “eat up” the most space on the phone, due to them you can quickly free up space on the memory card or in the built-in storage. If your phone doesn't support a memory card, move the files you don't access often to the cloud. The Photos app, or Google Photos, is the best for this. It automatically uploads photos to the service, where they are available in their original quality through a browser or application.

In addition to Google Photos, you can look at alternatives such as Dropbox, Flickr or Microsoft OneDrive.

Even when the photos are only available on the server, you can easily access them if you have an internet connection. And most importantly, this is a really convenient and fast way to free up a couple of gigabytes of internal memory!

Clearing memory: questions and answers

1. The phone did not have enough internal memory, I sent half of the photos to the sd card, after that I open it, but they are all kind of muddy. I tried to transfer back to the internal memory of Android, but the pictures are the same. How can I return the old pictures, i.e. so that it was cleaned up as before without any distortion.

2. I did not have enough internal memory in my phone, I wanted to clear it. I transferred data (photos, music) to a memory card. Now the files are not readable, although the phone sees the map. How can I get at least a photo back?

3. Phone Samsung A5. I did not know how to increase the internal memory, I moved folders with music and files from the internal memory to the sd card using a laptop. After that, when opening the folders, they all turned out to be empty. Neither the phone nor the computer sees files and music. The internal memory of the phone did not seem to decrease after that. How to find these files?

Answer. It is likely that you did not copy the originals to the memory card, but the thumbnails. The original photos may have been left in the phone's internal memory. If this does not happen, the DiskDigger program will help you.

If there is not enough space in the device memory, you should copy the files to your computer (make a backup copy) and only then move them to the memory card. It will be useful for you to read the instructions on how to clear the internal memory on Android (see the text above).

I have a Sony Xperia phone, when I go to the Play Market, I want to download some program, the system says that there is not enough memory on Android, although the flash drive is 16 GB! What to do?

Answer. Most likely, the "not enough memory" error on Android is due to the fact that there is not enough internal memory - this is where installation files are downloaded from Google Play.

  1. Transfer the largest files from Android internal memory to your sd card.
  2. Delete unnecessary applications through the file manager or Files Go.
  3. Use the CCleaner utility to clean junk files in your phone's memory.

Cleaned phone memory, deleted a lot of folders. And now I can not watch the gallery through Android, writes: "Storage is not available." How can I return it back?

Answer. It is likely that during cleaning you deleted the folder with photos on the memory card (SDCARD/DCIM/CAMERA). You can recover files from there using CardRecovery or PhotoRec.

Most users of mobile devices working with the Android operating system may encounter problems that are associated with memory overflow. In order to get out of this situation, there is no universal solution. But it is better to listen to some recommendations.

The article is devoted to the question of how to free up the memory of an Android mobile device. First you need to familiarize yourself with its types. This will allow us to deal with the problem on a global scale. It is worth noting the following types of RAM:

RAM, RandomAccessMemory or RAM;
ROM, ReadOnlyMemory or ROM;
internal storage Interal Storage;
microSD/microSDHC or ExternalStorage.

RAM, RandomAccessMemory or RAM

This RAM is used by the operating system and software to write all the necessary data. Thanks to this, applications start and function without failures. It is worth noting that when the device is turned off or rebooted, it is cleared in a fairly short time, the RAM needs constant power. As you know, the more RAM, RandomAccessMemory or RAM, the more applications run simultaneously on a mobile device. In addition, by its size, you can determine the resources of what capacity can run on your device without problems.

If the amount of RAM is full, an error occurs when starting a new application. The user will be notified that there is not enough space to play. Due to the rapid development of technology, today there are versions of Android 2.2 and higher. In such devices, the operating system independently determines what exactly needs to be removed, as well as which applications need to be closed in order to free up space.

Currently, most flagship devices are equipped with memory that has a capacity of 1 gigabyte, and even 2 gigabytes. That is why the problem with its overflow occurs less and less. As for inexpensive phones, tablets and smartphones, they have a capacity of 512-768 MB. In this case, the issue of freeing RAM is still relevant.

ROM, ReadOnlyMemory or ROM

RAM is used exclusively for reading. It stores data that was recorded at the manufacturer's factory. They cannot be changed. The only option is to flash the device or reinstall the operating system. The ROM consists of several sections that are designed to perform all sorts of internal functions.

Interal Storage

It is an internal storage. It stores all the information that is entered by the owner of the device. The internal drive is similar to the hard drive used in a computer. When recording all kinds of applications and data, the free space of RAM is reduced. To free it, it is enough to get rid of excess material that is not used. The remaining capacity for data recording can be seen in the device settings. Therefore, often freeing up RAM space is directly related to cleaning the internal drive.

microSD/microSDHC or ExternalStorage card

It is removable memory. Its volume depends on the card used. True, it is worth considering the presence of the necessary spot in the device, as well as whether the device is supported. MicroSD/microSDHC or ExternalStorage can be compared to an external hard drive used by a computer. The phone settings will provide all the necessary information about the amount of free space. On such a card it is convenient to store multimedia materials, which include music, images, videos. Versions of Android 2.2 and higher allow you to transfer all data to the card. As a result, space on the internal drive is freed up. When removing a card, it is advisable to unmount it first.

Free up internal memory on Android smartphones

Most users tend to install more various applications on their own device, modify programs. As a result, the gadget will definitely notify him that the system is full. To clean it, you need to download an additional utility or use the settings of your mobile device.

Thus, the user will definitely know that the memory on his device is full. When downloading the next application, the system will display a corresponding message on the screen. To make it possible to save the material, you can delete unnecessary objects. This frees up space for the required application. As a rule, large volumes are occupied by various updates coming to GooglePlay. A certain part of the programs can be moved to the card using Link2SD.

InternalStorage can be accessed with Root rights. It also promotes effective cleansing. It is also necessary to get rid of temporary files with the .rm extension. They are stored in the datalocalmp folder and have the property of constantly accumulating and clogging the system.

Choice of events

All of the above actions provide for temporary cleaning of the gadget's memory. Is there a solid method to free up internal storage on a phone? During the installation of programs on a tablet or smartphone running the Android operating system, a file is created with the .dex extension in the datadalvik-cache directory.

Sometimes it happens that some system applications do not have them. At first glance, it is a rather strange phenomenon when a program exists, but does not take up space at all. However, this is quite understandable. The fact is, along with these files, the device's memory contains files with the same name, but with the .odex extension. They can be saved, only then you do not need to leave .dex files. It is recommended to download an additional application. An example of this is LuckyPatcher.

After that, it is worth starting to perform certain actions that will help you find the answer to the question of how to offload internal memory on versions of Android 2.3.6 and higher:

1. First you need to check how much space the application takes. To do this, use the "Properties" menu.
2. LuckyPatcher starts up, after which the required application is selected from the list.
3. It is necessary to click on its icon and hold down, after a pause. As a result, a context menu will pop up on the screen.
4. It is required to select the first two items. The program will automatically create the necessary odex files.
5. dex is removed from the datadalvik-cache folder.

After completing all these steps, the application will work fine and not create problems, taking up 0 MB. In the same way, you can free up memory for other system applications.

To clear the memory of user applications, you need to use a slightly different method. You need to select an application, go to its folder on the memory card. As a result, you can see the free space. For example, there is 1.56 MB of unallocated space, while the dex file covers 1.68 MB. Thus, you can transfer the required application to the system directory. Then the steps described above are performed.

You can also just choose a different application, and leave this one alone. When an object is moved into user memory and the odex file is created and then the dex file is deleted, the device performs well. It will perfectly cope with the assigned tasks, open the necessary applications and use them without failure. If you transfer the object to a flash drive, then the odex file is deleted, and the program itself stops working. As a result, you will need to install it again or perform a complete cleanup of dalvik-cache.

You should definitely take into account that not every utility is able to work without dex-files. This is typical for games or applications with dex up to 1.5 megabytes. This method is relevant only for those applications in which dex-files weigh less than there is memory space. Thus, the actions that allow you to get an answer to the question of how to free up internal memory on an Android device are not difficult, they are easy to perform.

UNLEASH THE POWER WITHIN

RELEASE YOUR INNER POWER

Anthony Robbins

3 decisions we constantly make (consciously or unconsciously)

about your life:

  1. What are you focusing on ? (What are you going to focus on?)

Think about: what do you focus on more often: what do you have or what do you lack? On what you can or on what you cannot? On what you can control or on what is not subject to your control? Are you "living" in the past, present or future?

Your focus creates feelings (Focus = Feelings), feelings create emotions, and emotions, in turn, shape the perception of your life. Remember the moments when you were in a non-resource emotional state, was there anything that really pleased you?

So, emotions and focus determine how satisfied you are with your life.

Each person has their own emotional template - the way that person manifests. Robbins calls this pattern the emotional home. For example, there are people who are constantly happy and positive no matter what. There are those who are constantly in a state of sacrifice - constantly complaining about life, whining - "sacrifice". You also meet those who will always find a reason to be offended, no matter how well people treat them. There are people who are constantly in a gloomy mood, they are always dissatisfied with something, angry with something ... Surely, you have met those who are constantly worried about something, worried, expecting some kind of trouble. How about those who are constantly in a hurry, afraid to be late, not to be in time.

These few patterns of behavior show us what the emotional home of these people is, what they have chosen to focus on (consciously or unconsciously).

  1. What meaning / meaning will I give to this?(What does that mean?)

The second important point is how we interpret the events that occur in our lives. After all, the event itself is neutral, it just is. But by passing through our “this is good, this is not good” filters, based on our past experience, the situation takes on a plus (favourable) or minus (unfavourable) value.

Here, each of us creates his own "story", which he tells himself and others. It is important to remember that you are not your story. Because the past does not equal the future. Also, is your story true?

THE PAST IS NOT EQUAL TO THE FUTURE

If something did not work out for you in the past, is it possible to say unequivocally that it will never work out for you in the future? Of course not!

  1. What will I do with this? (What I'm gonna do?)

At this stage, we make a choice about how we act in a given situation. You can act reactively or proactively.

2 forces that influence your life:

  1. Internal state (State)
  2. Thinking Pattern (Blueprint)

The state is primary in relation to actions. Our state largely determines the actions that we perform and, accordingly, the results that we get. Therefore, before taking action, take care of your inner state. Energy first!

Success = 80% - psychology, and 20% - mechanics (skills)

3 questions to help you manage your life more effectively:

You need to know the answers to three questions in order to bring qualitative changes in your life, and the lives of others:

  1. What stops us from moving forward? ( From us taking the first step? Play the big game?)
  2. What controls and determines the quality of our lives?
  3. Why do we do what we do? ( What forces/motivators underlie all human actions?)

I. What is holding us back from moving forward? —————– FEAR and STORIES

There are different types of fear, such as fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of love, fear of being alone, fear of uncertainty, and so on.

At the heart of all fears are two fears:

  1. I'm not worthy (I'm not good enough) - I'm not enough
  2. I won't be loved - I won't be loved

As mentioned above, each event can be interpreted in such a way that it strengthens us or, conversely, puts us in a non-resource state. What story are you creating about your life?

An exercise

Ask yourself the question: can I start making qualitative changes in some area of my life right now? Maybe it's your relationship with loved ones? Or your finances? Personal development / spiritual development? Or maybe your health or body? Is it really important to you?

Are you taking any concrete steps in this direction? Or do you constantly delay/sabotage it? Why are you doing this? And this is where your story begins… How does it sound to you? For example, here are a few stories that come up often:

  • I don't have time for this...
  • I can not afford it…
  • I will definitely do this, but only a little later ...
  • I don't have enough experience, I'm not ready yet...
  • I have no education...
  • I have no money…
  • I'm too young/old...
  • I don't have enough energy...
  • I have no choice / I have no choice...
  • I'm waiting for the right moment...
  • Under my circumstances, this is unrealistic...
  • This is not for me…
  • I will start when I have more energy...
  • Etc.

Having understood your story, please, in no case do you need to condemn yourself for this, “turning on” the inner judge - this, as a rule, does not work. Haven't you already gone through this process of self-lynching? But did you get any results? In the long run, I doubt it.

At this stage, I propose to become aware of these stories and honestly acknowledge their existence. The very fact of awareness is already a big first step.

As Einstein used to say: A problem cannot be solved by being at the same level of awareness at which the problem was created.

II. What controls and determines the quality of our lives? —- EMOTIONS and the MEANING we give to events

What controls our lives, according to Robbins, is the meaning / meaning we give to the events in our lives. The meaning we attach to events is influenced by our psychology and our worldview (beliefs and values).

Once an event has a meaning, each individual associates an emotional template with it.

Question: Can we control our emotions?

Answer - YES

A: Managing the combination of 3 forces:

  1. Physiology / body
  2. Focus
  3. Inner conversation / Meaning (interpretation of the situation)

1. The body is directly connected to our brain. Let's imagine as if a group of people were asked to describe in writing a person who is in a depressed state. Most likely we would have received from the whole group plus or minus the following description:

This person has a lowered head and shoulders, shallow breathing, hands hanging like ropes, a hollow chest, a lowered back, rather slowly and quietly, sighs heavily, an uncertain gait, an extinct look, eyes directed downwards, heavy energy.

Would you give the same description? How is it that we call the same characteristics? Obviously, because each of us has been in this state. This has become our universal pattern. As soon as our body acquires this state, a signal goes to the brain - I am in a depressed state.

So, the first force that affects our internal state is our physiology.

2. The second factor is our mental focus. By changing our focus, we can change our state.

An exercise

Recall that you still haven't succeeded? What have you not been able to achieve yet, what are you missing… What problems are haunting you now? Who is to blame for this? Why is life unfair to you? Why is all this happening to you? Remember your mistakes and failures from the past? Who is guilty? What worries you in the future? Why don't you have a choice? Fix how you feel now? What is the state of your body? Head, shoulders, chest, back... how do you breathe? Now get up, shake yourself, inhale - exhale, inhale - exhale.

Now - for comparison - remember the happiest moments of your life, all those who love you, whom you love ... Why do you love? Why do you think they love you? What makes you feel proud of yourself? What did you feel when you went to your achievements? How did you feel when you realized that everything was done? You did it! You were scared, but you did it! How did you feel when you were truly admired? What can you be grateful for in life? Perhaps these are close people in your life, perhaps these are your children? Or your friends? Maybe you can be grateful for the opportunities you have?

Fix how you feel now? What is the state of your body? Head, shoulders, chest, back... how do you breathe? Now get up, shake yourself, inhale - exhale, inhale - exhale.

Do you notice a difference? What have we done to you? We have changed our focus. How quickly did your inner state change? Within seconds. Everything else is a matter of training. It is very important to remember:

FOCUS = REALITY

What you focus on largely determines the quality of your life. And your focus - what you pay attention to first of all - is also a mental habit.

Notice what you habitually focus on, like people? Do you notice, first of all, their positive or negative sides? Do you pay attention to what is the similarity / relationship between you or, on the contrary, differences?

The masters say: each person has his weeds and flowers. Every time you interact with a person, remember that you are a gardener. If you pay more attention to weeds, there will be even more of them. Concentrate on its flowers, and then you can enjoy their fragrance together.

3. So, there is a third factor - "inner conversation / meaning / meaning" affecting our condition. I remind you, the previous two: 1) our physiology / body and 2) mental focus.

What is your life for you? Scroll through your whole life like on a film... Imagine that you are the director of this film. What would you name this film? What is the genre of this film: comedy, tragedy, adventure, thriller, melodrama, etc.?

What do you think is the meaning of life? Perhaps life is a constant struggle (this conviction was very firmly seated in me myself), perhaps life is given in order to prove something to someone? Or is life a permanent school? Or maybe life is a punishment, a burden, working off, bad karma?

What significance do you attach to life and the events that take place in your life? Is your interpretation moving you forward, or do you get stuck and give up?

Slightly digressing from the topic, I will say that it was the correct adjustment of all the above three factors (body, focus, internal conversation) that allowed us to walk on hot coals!

An exercise

Watch yourself, become more aware.

Re-enter a peak state of joy, positivity and absolute self-confidence.

Body: What's going on with your body? How do you breathe? In what position is your head, shoulders, arms, legs, back? In which direction are you looking? What is your eye/face expression?

Focus: what pictures, sounds do you get? Maybe some voices? What specific events do you recall in order to enter a state of confidence? What else could you remember? What are you thinking about to get into a peak state?

Inner Conversation / Meaning: what meaning do you give to your life in order to gain inner strength? How do you interpret the events that take place in your life? What do you say to yourself, what phrases do you use to gain confidence? What questions do you ask yourself?

I propose to do the same, only now with a situation where you are in a depressed / non-resourceful state.

Happened? Congratulations! You have taken the first steps to learn how to manage your emotional state, as well as make a conscious choice - how to feel. If you continue further, it will become apparent that you absolutely know the recipe for getting into a positive or depressive state - you just may have never thought about it. What are you doing with your body? What are you focusing on? What do you say to yourself?

Let's continue.

So far, we have uncovered the answers to two questions: 1) What is holding us back from moving forward is fear and our stories, 2) What determines the quality of our life is our inner state and emotions. Now it's time for the third question:

Sh. Why do we do what we do?

1) There are two main forces. We do something: either because we want to receive pleasure(strategy K) or avoid pain(OT strategy).

Have you met a person who clearly suffers because of the way his life turned out, but at the same time does nothing about it? And, often, his life becomes even worse - the law of the Universe works: what does not develop, then dies. However, this person still does nothing. Previously, I could not understand what it was connected with ... Now it has become much clearer to me. He is in pain in the current moment, he suffers, but he associates even more pain with changes. In the current situation - even if it has become a swamp - he has certainty, and where there are changes, there is an exit from the comfort zone and uncertainty.

For example, a person who is overweight or addicted to cigarettes. In the first case, a person associates more intense pain with a diet, in the second case, with withdrawal during the period of getting rid of a bad habit.

By the way, the reason for self-sabotage also, as a rule, lies in the desire to avoid pain (even laziness is a form of self-sabotage). There is always a hidden benefit in self-sabotage. You can see it if you're really honest with yourself.

An exercise.

If you have something very important to you that you have been putting off for a long time.

1) What do you think are the 3 biggest fears holding you back?

2) What hidden benefits do you get without taking any action (even realizing that they are necessary)?

3) What prices do you pay for your delay? What are you losing? Who are you losing?

4) To what extent are these fears justified? What is a fact and what is an assumption (there is a scientific fact confirming that 90% of what we think of ourselves never happens)?

5) Why does it make sense to act in spite of these fears?

6) How will your life change if you defeat these fears?

7) Who else will win? Your most beloved and close ones, children, friends, company?

Let's continue.

2) There are 6 more needs (motivators) that determine our behavior and the decisions we make:

  1. Certainty / stability (Certainty)
  2. Variety / change (Variety)
  3. Significance / need (Significance)
  4. Love / Connection / Connection (Connection / Love)
  5. Growth / development (Growth)
  6. Be a Contribution (Contribution beyond yourself)

The first 4 motivators are basic, and note that the first is in conflict with the second, and the third with the fourth. Needs 5-6 are considered more spiritual/mature.

Satisfaction of all 6 motivators is vital for every person, but at one or another stage of life one or two motivators dominate.

An exercise:

I suggest you ask yourself: what one / two motivators are the most important for you at the moment?

For example, someone might say "significance" and "love/relationship".

Then I will ask the following question: what should happen in your life for you to feel your importance? What needs to happen for you to feel love/connection with another person (or people)?

Remember the person with whom the relationship is extremely important to you. Ask yourself this question: what 1-2 motivators are the most important for him? Am I helping him meet those needs? How can I support him? How else can I contribute? Are these motivators pushing him now, or is he stuck?

It should be noted that motivators can be satisfied in a neutral way, positive (creative) and negative (destructive). What strategy are you following?

For example, regarding the motivator "significance".

negative way

positive way

  1. A manager who lacks confidence and significance tries to "build" his subordinates or breaks down for no reason.
  2. An embittered teenager who takes up a gun and begins to threaten passers-by at night
  3. Parent lashing out at their child
  4. Colleague who pulls the blanket over himself
  5. A person who sticks his nose in everything, give his advice, "do" good when no one asks him about it
    1. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Viktor Frankl, Mother Teresa and many other heroes
    2. Sincere care and unconditional love towards your loved ones
    3. 100% commitment to our cause for the benefit of all mankind
    4. Participation in charitable projects
    5. Care and development of your team
    6. Leadership and 100% acceptance of responsibility

Love/connection with someone we can also try to get in both positive and negative ways. Negative way: toadying, striving to be good for everyone, manipulation, sacrificial stories, illness. Positive way: first of all, give, not take in a relationship; friendship; creating a team of like-minded people; donation; selfless good deeds.

Most of us are overly attached to certainty. And therefore we do not change the work we hate for decades (the usual story in such cases is stability), we live with an unloved partner, we stop in our development, we stop taking risks, we try to control everything and everyone, we are afraid to lose the last, we live on autopilot, etc. P.

On the other hand, certainty works great when you are determined with your long-term priorities, values; the field in which you choose to become a master; with what contribution you want to be.

Tony says this: Happiness = Progress, and a person receives true progress through his personal growth and the feeling that you are a contribution to the life of other people, the world, the Universe. I fully support this point of view.

I liked other words of Anthony Robinson:

Your life can be either an example for inspiration or a warning that

how not to live.

What can be said about your life? The choice is yours.

Often faced with the problem of memory overflow. Probably, there is no universal recipe for solving this trouble, although you can look for some practical advice, however, they are not systematized. Let's try to understand this issue and find out how to free up internal memory on Android.

Varieties of storage devices

So, first you need to understand what are in devices with the Android operating system. You need to know this in order to better understand the essence of the problem and what to do with it.

RAM, RandomAccessMemory or RAM

This is the so-called working memory. It is here that the operating system and the Android system software record all the necessary data for the smooth operation of the application, by the way, they are calculated quite quickly. It should be borne in mind that when the device is turned off or rebooted, the RAM is quickly cleared, the RAM necessarily requires constant power.

And, accordingly, the more memory, the more services and applications can be simultaneously run on the device. The amount of memory also determines which resource-intensive applications you can run on your phone. When all the amount of RAM is exhausted and there is not enough space for the new application you are trying to launch, the “Phone memory is full” error can occur. In principle, technologies do not stand still, and already from Android 2.2 and higher, the operating system itself determines what needs to be removed from memory, which applications can be closed in order to free up space. Today, many flagship devices have sufficient memory of 1 GB. There are even 2 gigabytes. Therefore, the question of how to free up internal memory on "Android 4.1.2" is less common than in relation to earlier versions. If we consider more on Android, tablets and smartphones, then they basically have 512 MB or a little more than 768 MB (rather non-standard size).

In fact, progress does not stand still, everything is improving, because a couple of years ago, most Android devices had only 256 megabytes of RAM and instructions on how to free up internal memory on Android 2 were quite in demand.

ROM, ReadOnlyMemory or ROM

It is read-only. What is stored in it does not change and is recorded at the factory or when the operating system is reinstalled, when flashing. The ROM is divided into sections to perform various internal functions.

Interal Storage (Interal Phone Storage)

The internal storage itself. It is here that all data and applications that the user of a smartphone and tablet computer enters are stored. An internal drive is an analogue of a hard drive in a personal computer. Of course, when we write various applications to the device, the memory decreases, and it is not difficult to increase it - just delete the unnecessary. You can find out how much built-in storage and free space you have by seeing them in the device settings. Thus, often the answer to the question of how to free up the internal memory of Android is to clear the internal drive.

or ExternalStorage

This is the so-called removable memory. The size of the memory card depends on the card you choose, however, you need to consider whether your device has the necessary spot and whether the device supports it. ExternalStorage can be compared to an external hard drive for a personal computer. And the amount of free space and occupied can also be seen in the settings of your gadget. It is good to store multimedia data on such a card: music, movies, photos, pictures. By the way, already with Android 2.2 and higher, you can transfer all applications installed by the user to a memory card, this significantly saves space on the internal drive. If you decide to replace the memory card, then do not forget to unmount it first, and only then remove it.

Smartphones "Android": how to free up internal memory?

Many users, after they are more or less accustomed to their gadget, begin to install, stuff their device with various applications, scripts, and modify programs in every possible way. And someday, the message “Phone memory is full” will still appear, especially if the model is not the most expensive, and there is not much internal memory in it. Part of the problem lies in the RAM. It is very easy to clean it - through the device settings or download an additional utility. So, when the internal memory of the gadget is full, a message will appear stating that there is not enough memory. In principle, you can constantly clear the internal drive, delete applications that you no longer use, but the time will come when this message will appear more and more often. Quite a lot of space is occupied by various updates that come for GooglePlay. By the way, you can transfer some programs to a memory card using a special Link2SD program. Access to InternalStorage is obtained by having Root rights. These actions are also good at clearing memory. You also need to clean up the so-called they have the .rm extension, are stored in the datalocalmp folder and constantly accumulate. For this action, you also need to have Root access and resort to the help of RootExplorer, plus files with the log extension often accumulate in the same folder and contain error in their name - these are application errors, they also take up a lot of space. All these unnecessary files must be deleted.

What are the best measures to take?

But this is all a temporary cleaning of the device. What is a more thorough way to free up internal memory on Android? When installed on or a smartphone with an Android device, each program creates a file with the .dex extension in the datadalvik-cache directory. True, it happens that some system applications do not have such files.

It may seem strange that this program does not take up space. However, the reason is that along with these files in the phone's memory there are files of the same name, but with the .odex extension. In principle, such files can be created, then it is not required to leave .dex files. To do this, you can install an additional application, for example, LuckyPatcher.

Now let's proceed directly to the steps that help answer the question of how to free up internal memory on Android 2.3.6 and newer versions.

We look at how much space the application takes up - the "Properties" menu.

For example, this is 1.68 MB, and, accordingly, the dex-file takes up the same amount of memory, and the odex-file that we created will "weigh" the same amount. Now you need to launch the LuckyPatcher application, select the desired application from the list. We clamp (hold, not just click). It turns out You need to select the first or second item. The program itself will create the necessary odex files for us. Then we delete dex from the datadalvik-cache folder. Now the application works fine and takes 0 MB. So you can free up memory for all system applications. Thus, an instruction is executed on how to free up internal memory on Android 4.0 and other distributions.

A slightly different method is suitable for cleaning user applications. We chose the application, went to its folder on the memory card, we see the free space of this application. For example, there are 1.56 MB of free space left, and the dex file is 1.68 MB. You can, in principle, move the desired application to the system directory and do the same as mentioned above, or simply select another application, and leave it as it is. By the way, if you still move this application to user memory and create an odex file, and then delete the dex file, then the application will work fine. But if you transfer it to a flash drive, then the odex file will be deleted, and the program will not work, then you will either have to install it again or do a complete cleanup of dalvik-cache. Please note that in general, not every program will work without dex-files. This is typical for games or applications with dex up to 1.5 megabytes. This method is suitable only for those applications that have dex-files smaller than the available memory space. As you can see, the steps to help answer the question of how to free up internal memory on Android are not particularly difficult.

The speed of the phone or tablet directly depends on the fullness of its memory. In this case, we are talking about all its types. And if you clean the memory in a timely and correct manner, then a device based on Android OS will work much faster and more stable.

Different types of Android device memory

Each Android device uses several types of memory for different purposes. It is important to be able to distinguish between them in order to understand what is at stake during memory cleaning and device optimization. Allocate the following types of memory:

  • RAM device (RAM - Random Access Memory) - is used to store temporary files of those applications and programs that are running at the moment. It depends on it the stability and speed of the device. With a lack of RAM, bugs and other failures appear. And this disadvantage arises either when too many applications are launched, or when temporary files are badly “unloaded” from RAM;
  • device read-only memory (ROM - Read Only Memory) - contains the system files of the device, including the files of the operating system. It differs from others in that it always stores files in itself, even if the phone or tablet is turned off. At the same time, without the use of special programs, they cannot be deleted or changed. Yes, and you should not do this, because changing the permanent memory can lead to damage to the device. In a normal situation, the ROM cannot be changed, and as a result, you are not in danger of filling it;
  • internal memory of the device (Internal Phone Storage) - can be used to store any information. Applications are installed here, messages and photos are saved. The information in this memory can be permanently erased or overwritten. Its clogging does not have a serious impact on performance, but still it needs to be cleaned from time to time, since many installed applications that are not used can still consume device resources in the background;
  • external memory of the device - this includes various memory cards. They can add some storage space to your device, and you, in turn, can transfer installed applications and files to them. Thus, they are used to free up internal memory and expand the possible size for files.

Displaying free memory on an Android device

To find out if you need to clear the memory on the device, you need to see how much it is currently occupied. RAM can be viewed as follows:

It is also easy to find out the permanent memory:

From time to time it is simply necessary to clear the memory. This contributes to the stable operation of the device and improved performance. There are different ways to clean up.

Cleaning device memory using built-in features

You can also clear the device's memory using standard means, for example, through the "Application Manager":

  1. Open device settings. Find "Application Manager" in them. Open the "Application Manager" section in settings
  2. On some devices, this item will be called simply "Applications". Sometimes the section may be simply called "Applications"
  3. In the list of applications installed on the device, select the one that you do not use and want to remove. Click on it. Select an application to uninstall from "Application Manager"
  4. Before uninstalling, clear the app data from the device. To do this, go to the "Memory" item. Go to "Memory" to clear app data
  5. Clear app data. This will free up space from settings files and saved application data. If you do not do this, or if this is not possible, the application can still be uninstalled. Return to the previous menu. Click "Clear Data" under "Memory"
  6. Delete the application itself by clicking on the appropriate button. Click the "Delete" button to remove the application from the device

There are a few things to keep in mind when uninstalling apps:

Clearing the memory of an Android device using a computer

Another way to clear internal or external memory involves connecting the device to a computer. In this case, you will have several options for cleaning:

  • you can see all the files and folders of the device if you connect the device to the computer as a storage device. Through the "Explorer" delete unnecessary data, such as photos or videos;
  • you can perform cleaning and a number of different programs. For example, specify the drive of the device to be checked by CCleaner or anti-virus systems. It will also help to get rid of temporary files or malicious applications in the system;
  • You can use special applications for working with Android devices for cleaning. For example, Android Commander. It will allow you to delete not only files, but also applications.

Clearing memory through "Explorer"

After connecting the device as a drive, you can get confused in various folders and names. You should be extremely careful, as accidental deletion of system files can damage the device. To free up the internal memory of the device as much as possible in this way, do the following:

USB debugging allows you to prepare the device for working with programs and access files on it. And now you can start deleting the contents of the following folders:

  • dsim - stores all the photos taken on the phone. They can take up a lot of space;
  • downloads - it contains files of any type downloaded from the Internet;
  • movies - used by default to store videos;
  • music - in it, as the name implies, there are music files;
  • pictures - images that are loaded on the device get here;
  • media - stores any media files.

Other folders should not be touched. They do not take up much space and may contain the files necessary for the operation of the device.

Clear Android memory using special programs

It is inefficient to try to clean the RAM of a phone or tablet manually. Yes, you can try to clear the cache or restart the device, but it is better to install special applications for this. In addition, many similar programs also help clear internal and external memory.
